EZQuest UltimatePower 120W GaN USB-C PD Wall Charger Review Verdict

EZQuest UltimatePower 120W GaN USB-C PD Wall Charger Review Verdict

The EZQuest UltimatePower is an excellent power brick. With up to 120W of total power delivery, the UltimatePower can juice up even larger electronics like laptops such as the MacBook Pro with ease. In my testing, I had no issues charging my Acer Spin 713 Chromebook, Lenovo T15 Windows laptop, and OnePlus 10 Pro Android phone simultaneously. Moreover, quick charging worked flawlessly with compatible devices such as my OnePlus 10 Pro.

Onboard, you’ll find a pair of USB-C ports and a single USB Type-A. Because the EZQuest UltimatePower provides a total 120W of power delivery, its trio of ports divvy that amount up. Both of its USB-C ports can output up to 100W while used standalone, and up to 120W split between the pair when running in tandem. Its USB Type-A sports a maximum 30W power delivery.

I liked that the EZQuest UltimatePower came with a few accessories, including a high-quality braided 6-foot long (2 meter) USB-C to USB-C cable and a European Union (EU) socket travel adapter. If you’re like me, you’ve probably got an entire drawer devoted to spare charging cables, but another USB Type-C cable in your arsenal can’t hurt. The bundled EU socket adapter slots neatly into the back of the EZQuest.

A foldable, compact design makes the UltimatePower easy to tote around. The two-prong plug flips up into the back of the EZQuest charging brick for streamlined portability. At around 340g or 12oz., it’s a bit on the heavy side, especially when compared with slightly lighter wall chargers like my Voltme Revo 140W. However, the UltimatePower isn’t heavy, and the extra weight is likely because it’s filled with a thermal conductive epoxy to dissipate heat.

Since the UltimatePower uses Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, it offers higher efficiency charging than traditional silicon-based chargers. There’s also NTC, or Negative Temperature Coefficient technology built-in to keep the power brick cool. And with its short circuit protection, you can rest assured that your expensive electronics like MacBook Pros are safe.

The EZQuest is a great piece of kit that provides generous power delivery, multi-device charging, and good build quality. I appreciated the bundled accessories and compact foldable design. It’s simple to toss in my backpack on the way out the door to my co-working space so I can charge my work laptop, Chromebook, and phone on the go. However, it’s heavier and bulkier than some other chargers, like my Voltme 140W power brick or Anker’s 737 charger. Nonetheless, it’s difficult to find a wall charger this high-performing and value-packed, making the EZQuest UltimatePower one of the best 120W GaN chargers on the planet.

EZQuest UltimatePower GaN USB PD Charger Performance

In my experience, the EZQuest UltimatePower performs incredibly well. I had no issues juicing up even power-hungry devices like Windows and macOS laptops like a Lenovo T15 and Apple MacBook Pro. With an overall 120W power delivery, that wattage gets split up between the different USB ports depending on how you’ve got your devices plugged in. Here’s a breakdown of possible power outputs:

  • USB-C 1: Max 100W
  • USB-C 2: Max 100W
  • USB-A: Max 30W
  • USB-C 1 + USB-C 2: 90W + 30W, 60W + 60W (Max 120W)
  • USB-C 1 + USB-C 2 + USB-A: 65W + 30W + 18W, 45W + 45W + 18W (Max 113W)

Because of its intelligent power delivery, devices pull the charging they need. For instance, you can get up to 100W total with a single device plugged into either of the EZQuest’s USB Type-C jacks. With a pair of electronics connected to both USB-C ports, you can achieve some combination of 90W and 30W or 60W and 60W with a maximum 120W total PD. Utilizing all three USB jacks, there’s a 113W maximum with some combination of 65W, 30W, and 18W or 45W, 45W, and 18W.

While the full 120W would be nice from a single USB-C as well as with all three USB ports active, you’ve still got plenty of juice for the majority of laptops, tablets, portable game consoles like the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck, Android phones, and iPhones. Smaller electronics like earbuds and headphones should prove no challenge.

Outfitted with GaN, or Gallium Nitride, the EZQuest Ultimate boasts more efficient electron conduction than traditional silicon-based electronic. Basically, the UltimatePower GaN wall outlet is more power efficient while offering faster charging when compared with silicon semiconductors.

Additionally, the EZQuest supports quick charging. In my testing, fast charging worked wonderfully on compatible devices like my Android OnePlus 10 Pro phone. There’s also NTC for keeping the power brick cool to the touch. And its surge protection keeps your devices safe even in the event of power outages.

EZQuest UltimatePower 120W GaN USB-C PD Wall Charger Review Final Thoughts

So the real question is should you buy the EZQuest UltimatePower 120W GaN USB-C PD Wall Charger? Overall, I think it’s an excellent power brick. I liked the EZQuest UltimatePower’s affordability, included accessories, and multi-device charging capabilities. Its compact, reasonably lightweight design means it’s pretty portable. And performance is great, with enough PD to juice up three devices simultaneously, including power-hungry electronics like laptops. A bit more wattage could be nice, and the power brick itself is a little heavier than I’d like, though by no means back-breaking. Ultimately, if you’re looking for a reliable wall charger to use at home or on the go, the EZQuest UltimatePower is a fantastic choice.
