I’ve tested no shortage of true wireless earbuds, ranging from Tranya’s Rimor wire-free earbuds to Tribit Flybuds and Jabra’s 65T Active. Unfortunately, while many actually wireless earbuds stay in just fine while stationary or even walking around, running much less a brisk pace results in constantly-falling out earbuds. As such, the wingtips on the 1More True Wireless ANC earbuds proved extremely beneficial. I was able to achieve a perfect fit instantaneously. With a simple, effortless twist I had a secure, comfortable fit. In fact, the 1More ANC wireless earbuds are so cozy that I forgot they were in.
Noise cancellation works surprisingly well. Like the 1More Dual Driver ANC Pro wireless earbuds, the 1More True Wireless ANC buds do a great job lowering ambient noises. To test out their capabilities, I ran a load of clothes and started the dishwasher at the same time. While walking around the kitchen, where my washing machine and dishwasher are both located, I could hear little but a slight noise in the background with no music playing. Neither appliance was even audible with music playing. Still, it’s worth noting that over-the-ear headphones will provide better ANC than even the best active noise-canceling earbuds.
Sound quality is simply outstanding. I was shocked at the robust yet not overpowering bass performance. I pulled up Tidal to try out some hi-fi music streaming. “Shiny Suit Theory” from Jay Electronica’s A Written Testimony sounded absolutely exquisite with applause that seemed to emanate in surround sound. Jay Elec’s vocals rang crisp and clear. “X” by ScHoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, Saudi, and Kendrick Lamar from the Black Panther soundtrack with its bass-heavy backing bumped with punchy mids and incredibly deep bass.
John Lee Hooker’s “One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer” oozed pleasantly with a balanced soundstage. Hooker’s warbling vocals were crystal clear with bass plucks, piano key taps, and drum hits equally represented. Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil” with its layered guitar riffs played in what felt like all directions. On the vocal side, podcasts sounded phenomenal. Granted, this will probably vary a lot as many podcasts don’t benefit from studio mastering like files from your personal music collection or streaming services which are usually high-quality. Likewise, calls came in with clear audio, and my vocals were reported as crisp on the other end. As such, the 1More True Wireless ANC Headphones are versatile enough to handle music, podcasts, and even conference calls.
Additionally, I pulled up Netflix on my phone. Audio handling for movies and TV shows is solid. Sure, the 1More ANC in-ear buds won’t compare to a good surround sound system, soundbar, or a set of emulated surround sound gaming headphones. But for watching video on a tablet or phone, the 1More True Wireless In-Ear Headphones are more than sufficient.
In addition to stereo listening, you can use one earbud for mon listening as well. USB-C charging on the included case is a nifty inclusion, particularly since USB Type-C is quickly replacing micro USB as the industry standard on high-end and even budget as well as mid-range devices like phones and tablets. On-device controls are convenient, although it’s easy when slotting the 1More earbuds into your ear to accidentally toggle ANC on or off.
