Tribit FlyBuds Review

I was initially slow to adopt truly wireless earbuds, but eventually snagged a pair of Jabra Elite Active 65t headphones. I was pleasantly surprised. The Jabra earphones performed great and actually stayed in, my primary concern before experiencing the freedom for myself. Although the FlyBuds clock in at a fraction of the cost of the high-end truly wireless earphones like the 65t, Apple Earpods, or Razer Hammerhead, they’ve nevertheless got premium features. It’s pleasant to see USB-C charging on a pair of budget headphones like the FlyBuds. Since most cell phones with the notable exception of Apple, and even many laptops, switched to USB-C for charging, it’s the most popular and common port. As such, I can use my phone charger to juice up my Tribit FlyBuds. With a feature set rivaling the almost $200 Jabra Elite 75t at less than a third of the price, the FlyBuds are an incredible bargain.

Fit, finish, and features aside, sound quality is top-notch. While earbuds often suffer from anemic bass performance, the Tribit FlyBuds feature punchy bass. But thankfully, it’s not like strapping a pair of subwoofers to the side of your head. The FlyBuds truly wireless earbuds maintain excellent clarity and a balanced soundstage. John Lee Hooker’s “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” makes all of its components evident. Hooker’s warbling voice, guitar, bass, drums, and piano each get their due.

The FlyBuds hold their own with bass-filled anthems. “X” by Kendrick Lamar featuring ScHoolyboy Q, 2 Chainz, and Saudi bumps with ample bass. But bass tones never muddy the vocals. Transparency is commendable. The Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil,” it tight and transient. Individual guitar string strums, bass plucks, and vocals are equally valued. Impressively, the FlyBuds are happily genre-agnostic. Whatever your musical preference, the Tribit  FlyBuds wireless earbuds are up to the task. Podcasts sound lovely, and I actually really enjoy taking conference calls with by FlyBuds. Since the Tribit earbuds make audio feel as though it’s in surround sound, there’s a lively warmth that’s all-encompassing.

But for me, the icing on the cake was the treadmill test. Eventually, after much twisting, turning, mashing, and stopping mid-run to re-adjust, I got my Jabra Elite Active 65t earbuds to remain in place. And with virtually every set of truly wireless headphones, you’ll need to test out each ear tip size. Yet the FlyBuds took far less messing about before I was able to complete a run without an earbud falling out. They’ve thus become my preferred workout headphones.

If you’re in the market for a pair of truly wireless earbuds, I’d recommend the Tribit FlyBuds as hands-down the best choice for your money. With a slate of features rivaling earphones three or four times their cost, the FlyBuds enter the competitive audio arena as a budget-conscious alternative to pricey headphones. USB-C charging is a major plus, and I appreciate the IPX5 waterproofing thereby making the FlyBuds excellent workout buddies. Sound quality is buttery smooth and refreshingly balanced. Likewise, call quality is extraordinary.  Easily the best truly wireless earbuds money can buy, the Tribit FlyBuds are a high-fidelity, low-cost investment that’s an absolute no-brainer.
