Tranya Rimor Truly Wireless Earbuds Review – A Stellar Set of Headphones
Headphones can often prefer a certain genre of music based on their soundstage. However, the Tranya Rimor wireless earbuds are delightfully genre-agnostic. With a balanced soundstage, they tackle virtually any style of music with aplomb. John Lee Hooker’s “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” dances warmly giving equal value to Hooker’s crooning vocals and the musical backing with evident piano key plunks, strummed guitar strings, plucked bass notes, and drumstick taps. The Grateful Dead’s “Friend of the Devil” managed to makes its layered guitars and bass clear, and impressively played back with audio notes mimicking a surround sound effect, truly enveloping my ears in a wall of sound. Yet frontman Jeffy Garcia’s vocals remain crisp and clear.
The bass-heavy “X” by ScHoolyboy Q, 2 Chainz, Saudi, and Kendrick Lamar off of the “Black Panther” soundtrack often pushes headphones to their limits. I appreciated the bass performance from the Tranya Rimor. The low end is evident, but not overpowering. Whereas my PowerBeats 3 top-heavy bass washes out competing sounds, the Rimor never muddies vocals. Regardless of what genre I threw at the Rimor, from hip hop, blues, and rock to pop, the Tranya earbuds sounded lush and warm.
Considering their IPX5 waterproofing rating, I was keen to take my Tranya Rimor earbuds for a run. Unfortunately, I’ve had mixed results with truly wireless headphones. Whereas my Tribit Flybuds stayed in just fine, my set of Jabra Elite Active 65t just won’t remain in my ear if I pick up the pace beyond a power walk. Thankfully, the Tranya earphones were locked in, and didn’t budge regardless of a mall walk stride or all-out-sprint. Construction is top-notch, particularly for the sub-$70 pricing. I was pleasantly surprised to find USB-C. Since USB-C is quickly becoming the standard for many phones and even laptops, including my Samsung Galaxy S9+ Android phone, it’s more convenient to travel with just one cable. Despite the fact that many mid-range or high-end headphones still rock micro USB, the Rimor sport USB-C instead. I found the touch controls a bit odd to get used to, but after familiarizing myself with the manual, I was more than comfortable adjusting the volume, playing and pausing tracks, even firing my Google Assistant and Samsung Bixby smart assistants on my phone.
Should You Buy the Tranya Rimor – Review Verdict
Headphones can range from a few dollars to a few hundred bucks. At under $100 USD, sliding in around $60, the Tranya Rimor true wireless earbuds make notable improvements in the Rimor lineup. Stepping up from the previous generation B530, you’ll find a slew of enhancements including USB-C on the charging case. But my main concern when selecting a pair of headphones or earbuds is audio quality. With an exquisitely-balanced soundstage, the Tranya Rimor are one of the most adaptable sets of earbuds I’ve owned. Calling is great, with clear voices. Although it took a few minutes to get used to the touch controls, I found operating the on-earbud touch controls much easier than other headphones in my arsenal. Affordable and well-specced, the Tranya Rimor are a best buy which pair solid sound quality with a modest price tag.
