Headphones fall into a special category. Regardless of how many pairs of earphones you own, it’s beneficial to maintain a robust collection. While I’ve got my Beats by Dre PowerBeats3, Funko Stormtrooper DJ headphones, and a pair of Sony MDR-ZX110 over the ear headphones plus assorted earbuds, I’m content growing my earphone arsenal. Since I listen to music while writing and editing, running, and enjoy indulging in podcasts or the news while cooking, I use headphones on essentially a daily basis. Recently, I had the great opportunity to test out a pair of Kasmer Bluetooth sport headphones. While not perfect, for the price these Kasmer wireless sport earphones are a solid pick up.
Kasmer Sport Headphones: What’s in the box
Upon opening the box, I was greeted by the Kasmer wireless sport earphones, along with three different sizes of silicone ear tips, and a micro USB charging cable. For the price, I didn’t expect that many accessories included. It’s pretty barebones, and unlike my PowerBeats3 didn’t come with a case. Still, the Kasmer sport Bluetooth earphones are admittedly a budget set of headphones. As such, they’re better suited to tossing into a gym bag than carefully placing in a case.
Kasmer wireless sport earphones: Fit, Battery Life, and Sound
When first donning my Kasmer Bluetooth sport earphones, finding the proper fit required a bit of finagling. While the Kasmer earphones boast an earhook design, the earhooks are unlike my PowerBeats3 in that they’re pretty loose. Upon first slapping them on, I expected the same secure fit of my PowerBeats. However, after some shoving, twisting, and cramming, I found a comfortable resting spot. Because everyone wears earphones differently, it’s tough to knock the Kasmer sport wireless headphones for this. Sure, they don’t yield a premium fit out-of-the-box, but the price is far lower than the likes of the Plantronics BackBeat FIT.
Though I’d have preferred a tighter fit, especially for running, I’m pleased to reveal that through strenuous testing the Kasmer Bluetooth sport headphones remained on my ears. Moreover, the Kasmer earbuds stayed in place and the battery lasted through my six mile run. For such an inexpensive set of Bluetooth earphones, I fully expected cut corners. While the earhooks leave something to be desired, you should see around an 11 hour battery life. Pairing is simple. I merely set the Kasmer headphones to their pairing mode, and successfully paired with my Motorola Moto Z, HP Omen laptop, and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition tablet.
However, sound quality is truly what shocked me. As a music and film buff, I’ve experienced my share of shoddy speakers and headphones. Predicting disappointingly tinny audio. I was pleasantly surprised to hear a moderately balanced profile. Bass response is solid, with crisp highs and punchy mids. I tested its bass with 2Pac’s “Ambitionz Az A Ridah.” While not as booming as my PowerBeats3 or the Funko DJ headphones, it’s a mid-range bass response. To get a sense of mids and highs, I played selections of The Well-Tempered Synthesizer by Wendy Carlos. Though bass was adequate, mids and highs are accurately transmitted.
Kasmer sport Bluetooth headphones: Final thoughts
Overall, the Kasmer wireless Bluetooth sport headphones are admittedly a budget set of earphones. For the price, they’re a solid purchase. Likely, I won’t be replacing my PowerBeats3 or Funko headphones at my daily drivers. Nevertheless, I’ve found myself tossing the Kasmer earphones in my backpack, and continued using them. Sound quality isn’t top notch, but for ultra-affordable headphones, the Kasmer sport earphones punch far above their weight class. Although the Kasmer wireless earphones don’t surpass premium headphones, they’re a budget-conscious pair of earphones which offer a competitive alternative to mid-range Bluetooth headphones.
